The Antelope man killed by Sacramento County sheriff's deputies Sunday morning appears to have had a death wish.

Deputies were responding to an earlier call of gunfire along Antelope Road when they got an unrelated call of a man walking along Don Julio Bouelvard with what appeared to be an assault rifle.  When officers approached the man and ordered him to drop the weapon, he pulled out what appeared to be a handgun and pointed it at the officers.  Deputies then shot 41-year old Ryan Matthew Shannon who was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Investigators soon learned that each of the man's weapons were replicas and later found materials at Shannon's home that indicated he wanted to end his life.  It's believed his behavior toward officers was an attempt to do just that.
