The problem-plagued West Sacramento Police Department was the focus of a community meeting Sunday.

A panel met at the Holy Cross Church Sunday night to discuss ways of restoring community relations with the department.

A number of high profile cases, including one where an officer is being tried for sexually assaulting women, have left the department with a black eye.

State Assemblyman Roger Dickinson, whose district includes West Sacramento, was on hand.

"It's very important to have a relationship of trust and confidence between the community and law enforcement," he said.

While much was discussed among the panel and resident, no one from West Sacramento Police Department was present at the meeting.
