A competitor for Whole Foods is leaving Sacramento.

The North Carolina-based Fresh Market Corporation says their stores in Sacramento, Roseville, and Elk Grove will shut in about a week.

The announcement came Thursday that they'll also close a Houston store, as the company looks to streamline.

Fresh Market lists two other existing stores in the Bay Area and Southern California, and there's no indication they'll close.

Company officials add they want to slow down expansion to improve profitability.

They first came to California in 2012.
