The Hostess Bakery plant on Arden Way in Sacramento currently sits empty, but, the day may come when its again put to use making breads and snack-foods.

The Flowers Baking Company of Thomasville, Georgia, bought the 80,000-square foot plant at the same time it acquired the Hostess Company. The building, once home to more than 200 workers, now sits idle, even though real estate experts have said it would be a great distribution site.

While Flowers representatives didn't return calls from KFBK -- and it's too soon to know what might ultimately become of the plant, published reports say the company plans to re-open bakeries as the need for additional production capacity arises, eaning, the Sacramento factory and store may have yet to see its last customer.
