Workers Killed in Fall from Crane in Winters

Posted Friday, May 30th 2014 @ 10am

The Yolo County Sheriff's Department says two workers are dead after falling about 100 feet from a crane.

The accident happened just before 8 a.m. at a bridge construction site near Railroad and Wolfskill Roads in Winters.

The victims apparently fell from a basket hanging from the crane into a deep hole that was dug for the footing of the new bridge.

The workers have not yet been identified.

Cal Osha is investigating the accident. More than a dozen fellow workers saw it all happen. The bridge is being constructed by a company called Disney Construction.
