Gov. Brown: CA Must Fix Infrastructure, Avoid Apocalypse

California Governor Jerry Brown is calling for more infrastructure spending after this month's emergency at Oroville Dam.  The full video of his news conference from the Capitol is below.

The governor told reporters today California needs to spend 187-billion dollars to upgrade infrastructure, including 50-billion on dams.  Brown is hoping the federal government will do prompt regulatory action and increased funding to improve dam safety.  He also wants a tax hike to help pay for the upgrades.

Thousands of people living near Oroville Dam were evacuated earlier this month after its emergency spillway started to collapse.  They've since been allowed back into their homes.
