Internet Fundraiser Growing For Family of Drowning Victim

An on-line effort is underway to help the family of an Orangevale boy who drown in the American River earlier this week.

14-year old Michael Powell drowned Monday while playing with friends along the river near Negro Bar State Park.  In an effort to help the family with funeral expenses and other essential needs, Good Samaritan Sara Zamani has set up an on-line crowdfunding event in hopes of raising 10-thousand dollars for Powell's grandmother, Trina Davis, who'd been raising the boy.

Zamani says, in addition to financial donations, dozens more have been donating gift cards, cash, food and other household items to help the family.  If you'd like to help, you can donate to the "You Caring" fundraiser.
