Officer-Involved Shooting in South Sac

Two suspects are under arrest after an officer-involved shooting and a car chase through south Sacramento.

The deputy first saw a stolen vehicle being driven about 10:30 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Robinette Road and Chriswoods Court near Power Inn Road.

The deputy followed the stolen vehicle in his marked patrol car as it turned onto a dead-end street, where the deputy stopped his vehicle and ordered the driver to stop.

The driver, identified as a 29-year-old woman, turned the vehicle around and accelerated toward the deputy and his vehicle.

Fearing for his safety, the deputy fired at the driver, but the vehicle hit the deputy's patrol vehicle, according to investigators.

The suspect, who had a 40-year-old man in the passenger seat, drove away and was soon seen from a California Highway Patrol helicopter.

The woman stopped the vehicle in a nearby neighborhood, where both people ran. The sheriff's department said they were eventually taken into custody during a search of the area.

Nobody was hurt in the shooting.
