Wildfire Evacuees Waiting Word They Can Go Home

CAL FIRE officials are warning about a long fight ahead in trying to contain and control the Atlas fire in Solano County.

Spokesman David Shew said even though the fire has claimed lives, though no deaths have been reported in Solano County.  Solano County Sheriff Thomas Ferrara said 25-hundred county residents have been evacuated and 13 structures destroyed.  He urged residents to be prepared to evacuate.  Evacuees are being warned not to try to return to their homes because of the ongoing threat of fire, falling trees and power lines.Shew said additional resources are coming from neighboring states, but containment and control is going to take time.  In addition to those who are confirmed to have died in the fires officials say hundreds remain missing.
