Why Car-Less Streets Could Stay Even After Lock Downs Are Lifted

Streets across California have been blocked off during shelter in place orders to allow for more pedestrians and greater social distancing. This tactic could be seen as a saving grace for restaurants who need more room for social distancing as al-fresco dining becomes more popular. Are pedestrian only streets here to stay?
