Last Navajo Code Talker Dies


The only remaining original Navajo Code Talker from World War Two has died. Chester Nez died of kidney failure Wednesday morning in New Mexico at age 93. Twenty-nine Navajo soldiers developed a code derived from their native language that the Japanese could never break. Nez and his 28 fellow Navajo U.S. Marines received Congressional Gold Medals for their contributions to the war:
