You mom may have told you "cheaters never prosper." Well, apparently Mom did not work for Consumer Reports.  

In its annual new car issue, the non-profit magazine ranks Audi as the best car brand, despite Audi and parent Volkswagen's ongoing scandal in which they admit to cheating on diesel emissions tests.  

Consumer Reports' auto testing chief Jake Fisher says the rankings show who is making the best cars right now and do not evaluate companies' honesty, labor conditions or other practices.

The other four of the top five brands: Subaru, Lexus, Porsche and BMW.  The bottom five: Fiat, Jeep, Mitsubishi, Land Rover and Chrysler.
