If you are buying a used car in Sacramento, there is nearly a one-in-five chance it is under recall and has not been fixed.

That is according to a survey from Carfax, which says more than five million cars, or one in six cars in California, have been recalled, but not fixed.

There are cities worse than the statewide average, which include Fresno, Riverside and Bakersfield at 20 percent, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Anaheim, San Diego and Sacramento at 18 percent and San Jose at 17 percent.

Millions of vehicles are recalled each year, for everything from minor issues to significant threats to life, like the faulty General Motors ignition switches or the Takata airbags.
