A man was found with a fatal gunshot wound in the back seat of his car this morning on the shoulder of Highway 50 in Folsom.
California Highway Patrol officers saw a car pulled over on the side of the highway about 2:30 a.m. near Scott Road in Folsom.
When they went up to the car, they found a man lying unresponsive in the back seat.
Officers broke through the front passenger window and tried to pull the man out, that's when they noticed he had suffered a gunshot wound in his chest from a firearm found in the backseat.
Investigators aren't sure whether the bullet wound, which is believed to be self-inflicted, was intentional.
