Sacramento County Sheriff's Department officials say they have a man in jail for impersonating a deputy. Deputies say they found 33-year-old Brad Beaver of Folsom at Sacramento International Airport after getting a phone tip about someone suspicious. They say he was wearing a uniform which very similar to their official uniforms, complete with a nylon duty belt and a semi-automatic Glock handgun.
Beaver allegedly told deputies that he worked at the Sacramento County Jail, but couldn't answer basic questions a real deputy would.
A subsequent search of his home reportedly turned up an AR pattern rifle, a large amount of rifle and handgun ammunition, ballistic vests with law enforcement markings, badges and insignias typically worn by Sacramento Sheriffs Department personnel.
An investigation showed Beaver is not employed by the department and in not a peace officer anywhere in California.
