Police are investigating a smash and grab in Rancho Cordova early Thursday morning that severely damaged the front of a Chevron station at Folsom and Hazel. The thieves took an ATM machine, loading it into a red pick-up truck before making a getaway at about 4:50am.
Sgt. Sean Hampton from the Sacramento Sheriff's Dept said the thieves tried and failed to steal an ATM from a store on Folsom Blvd and Investment Circle earlier. The Chevron theft was their second attempt.
