Companies Need "Red Teams" and are Hiring Thousands of Cyber Hackers

Companies are scrambling to hire thousands of corporate hackers and forming "red teams" to secure their cyber infrastructure and data of their clients. A college degree is not required for most of these jobs but perseverance and problem solving are in high demand.

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that two companies: IBM and Palo Alto Networks are teaming up with universities to build curriculum but those and other companies need workers now and they aren't waiting to hire. "These are jobs that didn't exist 5-10 years ago", says Kelsey Gee, who did the article for the WSJ, "It's hard to ask universities to create a whole new sub sector..."

A data company called Cyber Seek shows 300,000 open cyber security positions around the country. I did a check of how many are open locally and found almost 1700 available positions in Sacramento, 150 in Stockton, about 35 in Chico and 10 listed for Redding. There are thousands in the Bay Area.
