Sacramento Agrees To Pay Family An Over Five-Million Dollar Settlement

Sacramento will be paying over five-million dollars to the family of a man who was repeatedly shot by a police stun gun. The settlement is the largest on record by the city.

In March 2017, Sacramento police received reports of a man acting erratically near the 1100 block of Alhambra Boulevard. That was when 34-year-old John Hernandez was confronted by police, tasered multiple times and beaten into a coma. The family of Hernandez says he is left with permanent brain damage and needs a caregiver around the clock.

The city will pay three million, while the other two-point-two million will be paid through insurance.
