Many police departments are using surveillance camera footage to solve crimes but that usually means detectives going out after the fact to canvas areas and look for people or businesses that have cameras installed. A new program in Folsom allows residents to register their cameras with the police department. The department has created a map of where the cameras are located and its already helped solve some property crimes.
