80 Thousand Tons of Radio Active Waste with No Plan for Storage

A government plan to ship nuclear waste to Yucca Mountain Repository in Nevada has stalled leaving radioactive waste sitting in California. There have been two subcommittee hearing on the topic in Washington and three bills under consideration to deal with the nation's nuclear waste. David Kraft, director of Nuclear Information Energy Service, says we have 80 thousand tons of high level radio active waste that's being generated in this country. Below, our conversation with Kraft about the dwindling options for dealing with the nation's nuclear waste and his idea for what to do about it.
