The Sacramento Police Department is trying to find out what exactly happened late on Tuesday in the area of Traction Avenue and Plaza Avenue after a man died from gunshot wounds there. They said patrol officers responded to reports of shots being fired at approximately 11:00 p.m., and that the officers found a total of three victims who had been shot and fourth victim who had been stabbed.
One of the victims died at the scene, while the other three were taken to local hospitals. On Thursday police said two the surviving victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries, but the third was in critical condition. All of the victims are adults.
Homicide detectives said their investigation is in its early stages, but they believe they've found everybody who involved and that this was an isolated incident. So far, they haven't publicly announced a motive for the violence.
The Sacramento County Coroner's Office has to wait until the dead man's family has been notified before they can release his name.
