The Greater Sacramento region is gearing up to receive its first shipment of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine. The region is set to receive more than 35,000 doses in the first round of distribution. Sacramento County Health Director Dr. Peter Beilenson explains that since the vaccine must be stored at extremely low temperatures, which medical facilities have, the first doses will be administered in hospitals.
He's expecting that the first shots will be given out within the next week. Dr. Beilenson adds that plans are underway to transform current COVID-19 testing sites into vaccination clinics.
