The United Way's Capital Region is getting a $10 million donation from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott. The non-profit's Stephanie Bray says the funding is particularly helpful because money raised by the United Way is typically on behalf of other non-profits.
Bray says United Way officials will take an appropriate amount of time to set a plan for utilizing the generous donation. She promises transparency so the community knows how the money is being used to help improve people's lives. Scott, the former wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has given billions of dollars away to hundreds of organizations.
