UC Davis is field testing a new vaccine to provide protection from COVID-19. Dr. Stuart Cohen with UC Davis Health says researchers are hoping to attract volunteers in communities hardest hit by the virus. The Novavax vaccine is different than others now on the market, as it uses pieces of the coronavirus to kick start the body's defense system. And the goal is to find up to 300 volunteers. In this double-blind study, two-thirds of the patients will receive the real vaccine and one-third will get a placebo.
