Health insurance giant Blue Shield of California has been tapped to run the state's COVID-19 vaccine delivery system.
Blue Shield, along with Kaiser Permanente, will serve as outside administrators to help in the effort to deliver vaccines efficiently and equitably across the Golden State. The health plan provider will be tasked with creating and managing a statewide vaccine administration network and allocating doses directly to providers. The contract with Blue Shield is still being finalized.
