Covered California will be providing a special enrollment period through May 15 to purchase health insurance this year.
Open enrollment ends Sunday, but this week the agency that runs the health insurance marketplace said it would launch the extension on Monday. Earlier this month, Covered California announced nearly 1.6 million people had purchased health insurance through the marketplace.
