Indian Government Calling To Investigate Vandalized Gandhi Statue

The Indian government is calling for an investigation into the vandalized statue of Mahatma Gandhi in a Davis park.

In a new release on Saturday, the government said that the Embassy of India in Washington, D.C. has approached the U.S. Department of State for a thorough investigation into the vandalization. The Indian government called the act "malicious" and "despicable" and noted the Consulate General of India in San Francisco has spoken with the City of Davis and local law enforcement officials about the matter. Last week, a Davis Central Park employee discovered the 6 ft tall bronze statue had been broken off from its base at the ankles and its head was missing.
