Sac Homeless Union Pushing To Recall Mayor Darrell Steinberg

The Sacramento Homeless Union is pushing to recall Mayor Darrell Steinberg following the winter storms that tore through Northern California, leaving the homeless with nowhere to go.

The union says four homeless people died in the cold, that number has yet to be confirmed by the county coroner's office. Crystal Sanchez, president of the union, called out the mayor saying Steinberg "has 72 hours to resign or we start the recall." During last Tuesday's city council meeting, Steinberg issued a plea to house the homeless. The next night, the council unanimously approved an emergency ordinance opening warming shelters and downtown city garages for people living in cars.
