Sacramento County Sheriff's Office Is Giving Officers New Body Cams

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office is now equipping officers with body cameras.

Starting this week, the specialized units of Gangs, Homeless Outreach and North Problem Oriented Policing must wear them. This is a pilot program so the sheriff's office can evaluate its effectiveness. The Sheriff's Office says all officers will have body cams by June. They say it will increase accountability, reduce County liability and advance prosecution.
