An Oxnard College professor is on paid administrative leave after he was seen berating a hard-of-hearing student during an online class.
A two-minute 20-second video clip of Michael Abram interacting with the student was posted on TikTok, Twitter and other social media platforms. A student recorded the excerpt using a phone camera pointed at a laptop. Officials with the Ventura County Community College District say Abram teaches anatomy and physiology and is a full-time tenured faculty member. District officials believe the incident took place Thursday.
They also said they cannot comment on whether the professor faced any prior disciplinary action since this is a personnel matter. Abram was placed on leave Friday morning. An investigation into the incident is now underway.
