Sac School Reopening After Pipe Bomb Forced Closures

A school in South Sacramento is reopening today after a pipe bomb was found on campus, forcing shutdowns yesterday morning.

The bomb and a homemade "zip gun" were found laying on the ground outside Baker Elementary School's front office at 8:20 a.m., shortly before a small group students were set to arrive. A Boys and Girls Club staff member called the Sac County Sheriff's Department, who safely destroyed the weapon as the campus closed for the day. A K-9 Unit searched the rest of the campus for more bombs, weapons or suspicious devices, but thankfully found nothing. The school reopens today as investigations continue, although no details on a suspect or motive are known.
