California Schools Registering More Online Enrollment

A new trend is emerging across California for school enrollment.

Students who could return to the classroom are choosing to stay home, and now public schools are reportedly scrambling to keep kids enrolled online. The California Department of Education says roughly 40 districts in the state, including those in West Sacramento, Davis, Natomas and Rocklin, have all registered to create virtual academies. It was also reported that the number of students at K-12 schools dropped by more than 160,000 this academic year, most of them at the K-6 level, to a total of 6 million.

Falling enrollment threatens to reduce the money those districts get from state taxpayers.
