Newsom Lobbyist Firm Sees Profit Boom After French Laundry Dinner

A new report this morning says the lobbying firm that was part of the now infamous Governor Newsom French Laundry dinner has profited handsomely in recent months.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports the lobbying firm "Axiom Advisors" saw their revenue soar more than 25% in the last quarter, a partner in that firm, Jason Kinney, invited the governor to the party at the upscale Napa Valley restaurant during he pandemic lockdown. Axiom Advisors lobbies for Facebook and Netflix among other clients.

According to lobbying reports filed with the state, the Sacramento-based consultancy logged revenues of over $2 million between January and March. Kinney, a longtime friend and political adviser to Newsom, hosted a 50th birthday celebration at the famed French Laundry in Yountville last November that brought together at least a dozen guests, including Newsom and his wife, as well as the chief executive officer and top lobbyist for the California Medical Association. The dinner violated a state guideline at the time limiting social gatherings due to the coronavirus pandemic.
