Habitat for Humanity Can Help w/Home Repairs for Low-income Seniors, Vets

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento is currently hosting an open application period for qualified, low-income homeowners in need of health, safety, or energy-efficient related home repairs. The nonprofit organization does between 40-50 home repairs annually for low-income homeowners (primarily seniors and veterans) in need of critical home repairs to age in place and address deferred maintenance issues.

The home repair is a loan program in which Habitat provides critical home repairs such as roof replacements at an affordable rate (qualified homeowners pay back 20% of the cost of the repairs at 0% interest over an affordable period of time. Additionally, next month in June (national homeownership month), we will be opening up the application period for our homeownership program (a program where low-income families can build and purchase their own home for an affordable 30-year, 0% interest equivalent mortgage, as well as build equity through ownership). The majority of individuals we serve at Habitat are People of Color and both our repair and homeownership programs are focused on providing affordable housing and equity building/preservation solutions to underserved communities in our region.
