SMUD: Reducing Solar Credit for New Systems; Advocating Home Batteries

New solar customers will see the SMUD credit reduced for the excess power that goes into the system from their rooftop solar panels.

SMUD currently gives solar customers 12 cents a kilowatt-hour for unused solar electricity they deliver to the grid. which would drop to 7.4 cents starting next January. Existing solar customers would continue to receive the old rate until 2030. Huong says SMUD says new goals which include more stable energy like home batteries
