Downtown Sacramento Owners Requesting Workers Return

Business owners in Downtown Sacramento are saying state workers need to come back to the office because they add so much to the economy.

In an interview with the Sacramento Bee last March, business owner Lizett Arnold says shutting down and teleworking has been hard on her business and depressed the morale downtown.

According to the Bee, Downtown accounts for nearly half of Sacramento's overall property tax revenue, 42% of its hotel tax revenue, and almost 40% of Sacramento’s workforce. Much of this revenue and jobs have been hit by the pandemic, but if public sector jobs return, businesses believe they will too.
