California State University, Sacramento is moving forward with plans of building a regional campus in Placer County. The college announced it's formally accepting a 300 acre donation, worth roughly $27 million, from the developer of Placer Ranch, an area north of Roseville and west of Rocklin. It's the largest donation ever for Sac State, and will go toward building a university campus eventually serving thousands of students both with Sac State and Rocklin's Sierra College. The project may still take several years to complete, although Placer County supervisors have already approved $17-million worth of infrastructure improvements. The preliminary plans for the campus would include a 60,000-square-foot complex, estimated to cost $35 million, that will contain classrooms, labs, study space, faculty offices and more.
