Sacramento Traffic Expected To Hit Gridlock Levels This Summer

Sacramento could see gridlock levels of traffic return by late summer or early fall. Highway officials in the region say a number of factors could converge that will increase the number of vehicles on the road. One is students returning to in-person instruction on school campuses, another is companies requiring employees to return to offices. Then, there are the Bay Area transplants to the region. Over 10,000 new residents have put down roots in Elk Grove, Woodland, Folsom, and across El Dorado County. Many work remotely for now, but if that changes, those super commuters between Sacramento and the Bay Area will add to long traffic jams. Also a factor, major roadway construction closing some lanes and blocking traffic to certain roads.
