KFBK Morning News Show Recap - Wednesday August 4th

Leads:

  1. A televised debate is set for tonight in California's recall race. It will be held at the Richard Nixon presidential library in southern California. John Cox, Kevin Falconer, Kevin Kiley and Doug Ose will take part. Larry Elder, Caitlyn Jenner, and Governor Newsom will not. You can hear the debate live on news 93.1 KFBK at 6 pm tonight.
  2. A Texas businesswoman is suing Black Lives Matter Sacramento for libel. According to a recent court filing, a post on the BLM Sacramento Facebook page showed racist emails sent from an address linked to Karra Crowley. The Texas resident, who spends time in California for business, says she emailed BLM leader Tanya Faison asking her to remove the post, saying it was not her email address.
  3. California regulators have announced they will cut water supplies to thousands of farmers. The farmers have been told they're not allowed to pull water from the state’s main rivers and streams as the drought worsens.  It affects water being supplied from the rivers in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta watershed.
  4. PG&E lines may have sparked another Northern California wildfire. In a regulatory filing, the utility says a tree fell onto one of its overhead lines on July 22nd along Highway 70 in Plumas County about the time the Fly Fire started, north of the town of Quincy. However, the utility says the information is preliminary and no direct cause of either fire has been determined.
