- The Caldor Fire has grown to over 53,000 acres and nearly 6,000 structures are threatened. Grizzly Flats, Somerset, Sly Park and Pollock Pines area residents have already been ordered to leave. More evacuations are anticipated as the fire burns north.
- PG&E has announced they've begun shutting of power to about 51,000 Northern California customers in 18 counties. And there could be more shut off today to prevent wildfires. The power could go out in the "Sierra Nevada foothills, the north coast, the north valley, and the north bay mountains."
- The second debate of recall candidates for California governor was held last night in Sacramento. Absent was Former Congressman Doug Ose who suffered a heart-attack on Sunday and is now bowing out of the race. Conservative Talk Show Host Larry Elder, the front runner, again skipped the debate.
- This morning, the San Jose Mercury News is reporting state-wide water restrictions may be on their way. While campaigning in Santa Cruz, Governor Newsom said he may put mandatory water restrictions in place statewide in as soon as six weeks from now. Lake Oroville and Folsom reservoir are both only 23% full. California is in the midst of its worst drought in nearly 50 years.
