Natural Resources Secretary Wade Crowfoot told reporters yesterday the new regulations include retrofits of existing wells. They'll have to be placed at least 32,000 feet away from "sensitive" buildings. Crowfoot expects some wells to be shut down because the retrofits will be too expensive. Governor Gavin Newsom called it a milestone rule but said more needs to be done to keep people and the environment safe.
- Companies are warning people to shop early or risk not finding the gift they want to buy this holiday season. From restaurants and grocery stores to construction companies and car manufacturers,UC Davis Economist Kadee Russ says the pandemic’s had widespread effects on global supply chains. - A trio of storms moving into the West Coast is finally bringing down the curtain on the wildfire season. High wind warnings and advisories and flash flood warnings were out from Northern California through Washington on Thursday and more is on the way. Forecasters say some areas could get nearly two feet of rain between now and next Tuesday. The US Forest Service says the Caldor Fire is fully contained. The blaze broke out in mid-August, and burned nearly 222,000. El Dorado National Forest officials say they have repaired about half of the dozer and hand lines that were constructed during the fire. They have also repaired many isolated areas that had been used for staging and airdrops.
