Scott Peterson Re-Sentenced To Life In Prison Without Parole

Convicted killer Scott Peterson is being re-sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Peterson was first convicted for the murder of his pregnant wife Laci Peterson and their unborn son in 2004. The Supreme Court overruled his sentence in August 2020 amid allegations of juror misconduct. Members of Laci's immediate family faced her killer for the first time in 17 years and gave statements to the courtroom. Attorney Pat Harris maintained Peterson's innocence after Wednesday's hearing and said the judge denied Peterson's request to speak.

"He wanted to make it clear that there is no way he could have possibly harmed Laci and Connor," said Harris. Laci Peterson's mother told ABC News' "20/20" that another trial would be painful, but would likely result in the same outcome.

"To have to go through a trial again, of course, would be excruciating. But if that's what it takes, I'll be there," Rocha said in May 2021. "And I'm sure they'll find him guilty again."
