The football world is mourning the passing of Hall of Famer John Madden.
He was head coach of the Oakland Raiders from 1969 until 1978 and went on to become one of the most well-known broadcasters in all of sports. He went 103-32-7 over his decade-long tenure, winning Super Bowl XI over Minnesota in 1976. His teams were in the AFL/AFC Championship in eight of his ten years as head coach. Madden retired after the 1978 season and went into broadcasting where he would turn not only the league, but the industry, on its head.
The Madden video game series has also become one of the most popular franchises of all time. The football coach and broadcaster has been the face of Madden NFL for more than three decades.
