State Assemblyman Kevin Kiley is pointing fingers at Governor Gavin Newsom after the Rocklin Republican was stripped of a high-profile committee assignment on Monday.
Kiley was removed by Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon without warning. A Statement from Newsom's office reads the Governor ... "Played no role in this change. Perhaps the Assemblymember needs a basic refresher course on how the legislature and a separate branch of government works."
"Just to sort of be summarily taken off without any explanation, that is something that is really only done if you want to send a message," Kiley said. "If you're trying to quote-unquote punish someone or try to get them to start acting differently."
