Developing: Fire Engulfs Walnut Plant In Live Oak, Part Of Hwy 99 Closed

A large fire has broken out at a commercial property in Sutter County, in the city of Live Oak. It is being called the Diamond fire because the blaze broke out at the former site of the Diamond walnut processing plant, according to the Yuba City Fire Department. Yuba, Sutter, and Butte County fire crews are responding to the incident. The fire has prompted part of Highway 99 in the area to close down and some nearby residents are evacuated as a precaution. No injuries are expected. Photos on Twitter show the main building engulfed in flames. The fire has since spread onto the property. There is no estimated time to reopen Highway 99. Traffic for now is being diverted onto side streets and rural roads to get around the closure.
