Head On Crash On Folsom Lake Crossing Kills Three People

Following a five hour road closure Tuesday afternoon, Folsom Police announce that the head on accident that prompted the closure killed three people. The accident took place on Folsom Lake Crossing, the road located between the dam and prison. Police say that both drivers were killed on impact and a passenger of one of the cars was transported to the hospital with severe injuries. They say the accident involved a black Toyota Camry and a red Chrysler 300 around 3:45 PM Tuesday.

The Toyota driver was a man in his early 30's from Roseville. The Chrysler driver and passenger were a married couple in their late 60's and early 70's from Rescue in El Dorado County. Police say the man was the driver and the woman was transported to the hospital, but ultimately did not make it. FPD spokesman Andrew Graham says they do not believe that drugs or alcohol was involved in the accident and that the cause of the collision is still being investigated. The victims IDs will be released after the families have been notified. Locals say this road is a source for many accidents and known to be dangerous.
