Listen: Michele K. Steiner,

Regional Director of Philanthropy, Los Rios Colleges Foundation

The Los Rios Colleges Foundation is excited to announce that it has been awarded a $25,000 SMUD Shine Award to support the Los Rios Workforce Development Program. This funding will provide 100 scholarships to enhance student completion across the four Los Rios colleges – American River, Cosumnes River, Folsom Lake, and Sacramento City – in STEM, green technology and/or construction career pathways and/or gain equipment needs for internship placement.

The Los Rios Workforce Development Program will help at least 100 low-income students complete certificates and degrees in a range of clean energy sector programs, contributing to an educated, skilled and career-ready workforce. By helping students complete certificates in fields like solar installation, environmental conservation technician, clean diesel hybrid technology, and electric power lighting systems, Los Rios can improve the local workforce development pipeline to help meet the demand for employment in the clean energy sector.
