  1. Union leaders and administrators within the Sacramento City Unified School District negotiated late into the night in an effort to avoid a strike, something the teachers officially called for last week. The two sides will be back at the bargaining table Tuesday to try to hammer out a deal to avoid disrupting school.
  2. The heat is on for Northern California and with today's forecast highs expected to hit the mid-80's, which would shatter the record set 1960. The National Weather Service says normal temperatures for this time of year are usually around 68 degrees.
  3. On the heels of Democrats at the Capitol rejecting a plan to temporarily suspend the gas tax, there are now new plans being floated by lawmakers to give drivers a break at the pump. Senate President pro Tem Toni Atkins and Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon are proposing a law that would give financial relief to families struggling with paying for goods and gas.
