Much needed rain and mountain snow will fall across Northern California today.

Sacramento may get up to an inch of rain today as the morning conditions continue to look rainy and cloudy throughout the day.

The Bay Area was hit with rain first, followed by valley spots that rolled in late last night. Periods of heavy rain lasted from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., and rain totals will vary between 0.5 - 1 inch with a few spots that could receive 1.25 inches of rain for the rest of the day.

For the rest of Monday, there's a chance of thunderstorms, small hail, gusty winds, and lightning may be possible. Highs will be cool, only reaching the mid-60s as the weather progresses. While rain is passing through Sacramento, along with light rain in Folsom, Roseville and Stockton ― Modesto is forecasted to be mostly in the clear.
