Sacramento City Unified Could Get Longer School Days

The school days for families in the Sacramento City Unified are about to get a little longer.

California requires all school districts provide a minimum of 180-days of instruction in the school year. Plus, there's also a separate requirement which specifies the minutes of instruction that need to be provided to students. SCUSD Superintendent Jorge Aguilar says it's a $46-million penalty if the requirement isn't met. He says the district is already in talks with SCTA to determine the best course of action and they hope to be able to announce any schedule changes to the current school schedule when students and staff return from spring break.
